When we got this grey tabby, they told us she was a neutered male. We named her “Finnegan.” Katie called her “Finn.” I liked to call her “Finbar” mostly; not because she had a blonde head (she didn’t) but because I had previously called her “Fintastic” (which she was) and “Finbar” felt the German version of that to me, even though it’s really Irish. She started to yowl a lot that spring, and Henry started mounting her. We took this neutered male unspayed female to the vet and she became “Lady Finn,” a.k.a. “Fifi.” Gender didn’t suit her at all, so we often called her “Finn Monster.” When we decided to move to Boston we naturally called her the “Grey Monster” or even “Finway Park.” She never saw Boston. When she got sick we finally figured out her real name. It was “Baby Girl.”
